Weight Loss with Homeopathy & Naturopathic Medicine

Yeah - I know.

It’s cliché to write about weight loss.

Especially at this time of year.

But I have so many tools to help you lose weight with homeopathy & naturopathic medicine.

Tools which are elegant, effective, deep-acting & draw on my years of clinical experience treating weight disorders, among other conditions.

So I cannot in good conscience withhold such tools from you.

Irrespective of how superifically cliché this topic may be.

Further, like everything I do, this article is far from superficial.

So ... when you're done rolling your eyes at yet another article on weight loss ... read on.

Consume Without Consuming

You have a need to consume.

We all do.

Each of us can each address these needs through:

Consumption Is Good – To A Point

Hunger & consumption are natural.

And, indeed, necessary for survival & health.

And you should naturally only eat when hungry.

Clear enough.

Address – Don’t Suppress - Hunger

Hunger – address it, don’t suppress it. Tweet this

It’s there for a reason.

And that reason should be addressed appropriately.

But …

What If I'm Always Hungry?

Or - for that matter - never hungry?

Absent hunger & constant hunger alike suggest problems.

Problems in your body’s hunger feedback.

Fortunately, such problems can be corrected.

I regularly utilize the following naturopathic techniques, among others, for such correction:

But …

What If I’m Full But Still “Hungry”?

You may be unable to see the true source of your hunger.

After all, consumption doesn’t occur for its own sake.

Consumption is a means to an end.

Fuel for the fire.

For production.

Creation.

Burning passion.

Lose Weight with Consuming Passion

Think of it like a fire.

A raging bonfire will readily consume its fuel.

It will burn brightly, evenly, & almost indefinitely when properly stoked.

Is Food Suppressing Your Passion?

But what happens when you throw a bunch of thick, heavy logs atop a spark or small flame?

At best, the flame feebly wicks the wood, without catching or growing.

Or worse - the sheer size of the logs actually extinguishes the flame entirely!

Similarly, excesses of food, drink, or other vices can encumber, burden, or even suffocate your passion before it has an opportunity to grow to its true potential.

Passion - Stoke Or Choke

So how can you optimally nourish your passion?

Stoke it.

Provide your fire with the optimal quantity & quality of fuel.

And that fire will burn vigorously & cleanly.

Rekindle Dying Embers Of Passion

Embers – even those seemingly long-dead - can be readily rekindled into a powerful blaze.

But not with heavy, wet logs.

With tinder & kindling.

Something which whets the appetite.

But without squelching, suppressing, or superficially satiating that hunger.

Allow Yourself To Be Hungry

Once any issues with your hunger feedback systems have been corrected, you will able to trust your body’s hunger signals.

But that hunger may still not be for food.

How can you figure that out?

Allow yourself to truly experience that sensation of hunger.

It is no accident that fasting is, cross-culturally, considerd a holy, religious, & deeply spiritual experience.

The body & mind are cleared of distractions.

And the true source of your hunger can make itself apparent.

Enlightenment Through Asceticism

In fact, intentional, focussed, & controlled deprivation is a cross-cultural path to enlightenment.

Whether it be through:

  • Abstinence
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Poverty
  • Solitude
  • Fasting

But such deprivation need not be prolonged to obtain clarity.

On the other hand ...

Be Hungry For Life

In both senses.

1. Be Hungry For Life

Be hungry for living.

Sublimate your hunger into passion.

Into manifesting your greatest gifts in the world.

And ...

2. Be Hungry For Life (Not A Typo)

Don't suppress hunger.

Express it.

Why does the average Westerner gain a pound a year throughout adulthood?

Lack of hunger.

Also not a typo.

Sublimate Hunger Into Passion

For those not used to experiencing it, hunger can appear slightly uncomfortable.

However, this discomfort promotes action.

Passion.

And life itself.

Caloric Restriction With Adequate Nutrition (CRAN)

In fact, caloric restriction with adequate nutrition (CRAN) has – across an astonishing variety of species, including humans - been shown to:

Despite over 70 years of research into the caloric restriction, however, the mechanisms underlying these effects are still poorly understood.

Sirtuins – The Fountain Of Life?

A class of proteins called sirtuins have emerged as one of the strongest mediators of the effects of CRAN.

Of course, to big pharma – and, in fairness, its naturopathic equivalent (“big-supplement”?) – this scientific breakthrough represents another patentable & lucrative business opportunity.

Caloric Reduction Reductionism

Accordingly, calorie restriction mimetic (CRM) drugs have been developed in an attempt to simulate the mechanism & effects of CRAN.

Without having to, you know, actually stop stuffing our faces.

Unsurprisingly, no such effective CRMs have been identified.

I suspect this is because the benefits of fasting & caloric restriction extend well beyond such reductionistic mechanisms.

Get Off The Food-Weight Treadmill

Vast amounts of time, money, energy, emotion, & other resources are devoted to thinking about, planning, preparing, & consuming food.

Food.

A means to an end.

Like breathing.

Imagine you devoted the same amount of time, money, energy, emotion, & other resources to breathing as you do to food?

You wouldn’t have time or energy left for anything else!

Now imagine that you could reduce the amount of time, energy, emotion, & other resources that you devote toward food - to the same level as you devote to breathing?

Imagine the freedom.

Freedom that you could use for whatever you wished.

Freedom that could be devoted towards your true passions.

Discover Your True Passion

But what if you don’t know what you’re passionate about?

Many of the naturopathic medical modalities I utilize focus on answering this very question in an individualized manner, most notably:

Passion Is A Mindset

Passion - like weight loss - is unique to each of us.

Naturopathic & homeopathic treatment should be personalized accordingly to each individual.

As a general principle, however, passion is not task-dependent.

True passion is a state of mind - permeating all you do. Tweet this

Unleashing Passion Via Samadhi

My childhood was rife with "creative" jabs at my surname.

Both innocuous and - among those with basic anagram skills & apparent biblical knowledge - profane.

So when a patient remarked several years ago that my name, personality, and treatment reminded her of a word from her homeland …

… I was naturally prepared for the worst. ;)

Fortunately, that word is Samadhi.

Far from profane.

In fact, Samadhi is an ancient Sanskrit term for a form of meditative absorption.

Meditative absorption achieved through one-pointed concentration.

In Buddhism, Samadhi is also the last element of the Noble Eightfold Path.

By which enlightenment may be attained through single-pointed focus.

Indeed, even though I did not have a name for such a state until relatively recently, the greatest, most profound experiences of my life – spiritual or otherwise - have all occurred in a Samadhi state.

It is a place in which time, space, and the chattering of the mind fall away.

In which every cell of your body is vibrating in synchronicity with the object of your focus & passion.

Samadhi, Flow & The Zone

Noted psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi has coined the term flow to describe the Samadhi state.

In colloquial western terms, this is often known as being in the zone.

Csíkszentmihályi formulated the required conditions for a task to elicit flow:

  1. Clear goals & progress.
  2. Clear & immediate feedback.
  3. High challenge balanced by high skill.

Csíkszentmihályi graphically described flow - and other states of consciousness - relative to perceived challenge & skill levels as follows:

Csikszentmihalyi Flow Challenge Skill Weight Homeopathy Naturopathy

Passive, relaxing activities don’t elicit flow.

Your concentration must be devoted to the task at hand.

I am extremely well-acquainted with this state.

And frequently enter it during patient treatment, when focusing on project and - in truth - throughout the vast majority of my life.

The Samadhi Method

I have developed The Samadhi Method to describe the means by which anyone can enter this state and elicit healing for both themselves & others.

The Samadhi Method distills the best of each medical and healing tool - from naturopathic medicine & beyond - into a single holistic, elegant, & effective healing method.

A method that is accessible and can be utilized by not only other practitioners, but by members of the public as well.

Samadhi - Elevate Your Experiences

What is one simple technique you can utilize to reclaim your passion and attain Samadhi?

Elevate your daily experiences.

Ensuring your challenges & skills are well-matched.

Between company meetings, family dinners, and movie outings, we all must deal with situations involving food that may be insufficiently engaging.

Samadhi - Fill Your Emptiness With Purpose

In such situations, you may feel an unspoken need for something.

And instinctively reach for food.

Instead, focus on elevating your challenges.

Through both external and internal methods.

Elevate Your Experience – External Method

Elevate your challenges to match your abilities.

Modify Your External Environment.

This requires continuous recognition and elimination of restricting environmental elements.

And - since we can’t see our own blind spots - such recognition is typically difficult or impossible to come by ourselves.

Many of the techniques I utilize – particularly the Neuroemotional Technique (NET), the Neuromodulation Technique (NMT), biofeedback, and constitutional homeopathy – are particularly well-suited to generating recognition and elimination of deep-seated, chronic environmental blocks.

Eliminate Conscious Blocks Subconsciously

However, some blocks may be more consciously self-evident.

Why do so many of us continue to maintain such negative elements in our environment?

Despite our conscious recognition of their detrimental nature?

Subconscious blocks.

You may consciously recognize holiday dinners leave you bored, apathetic, and overstuffed.

But you subconsciously have beliefs which restrict you from changing that environment.

Beliefs like:

  • If I don’t eat everything offered to me, others will feel rejected.
  • If I don’t stay at the table until well after I’m full, others will reject me.
  • If I voice my feelings, others will reject those feelings & me.

Ironically, by rejecting these authentic feelings, you ultimately reject yourself.

Elevate Your Experience – Internal Method

But what if your environment resists change?

Despite your best efforts?

Modify Your Internal Environment.

Go inward.

Ground.

Just be.

And work with someone to eliminate internal subconscious blocks.

Blocks like:

  • Food = Happiness
  • Food = Love
  • Fasting = Punishment
  • Fat = Protection

Uncovering & clearing such subconscious blocks will allow your brain to form new, healthy associations.

Associations that will help - not hinder - you in reaching & maintaining your ideal weight.

A Weighty Matter Of Mind Over Matter

This article has addressed natural weight loss primarily from a psychological and emotional perspective.

And that’s important.

Natural, healthy, & sustained weight loss comes first from the mind.

A weighty matter of mind over (literal) matter. Tweet this

Specifics of Homeopathic & Naturopathic Medical Weight Loss

But what about more concrete, physical homeopathic & naturopathic medical interventions?

Interventions like:

  • Dietary Protocols
  • Botanical & Nutritional Supplements
  • Homeopathic Remedies

These topics are indeed important.

I haven’t forgotten about them.

They simply each deserve their own articles.

Articles which will be:

  • Comprehensive
  • Generalized, & yet
  • Individually applicable

My passion guarantees it.

Naturopathic Medicine & Homeopathy Testimonials

Andy responded so compassionately to my nephew's diagnosis of this life threatening and shocking skin disease, and quickly found the remedy that miraculously turned the disease around.

You could actually see the lesions disappearing and within hours he was on the road to full recovery.

Thomas Schell, Nova Scotia / New Brunswick

My only reason for trying Dr. Andy's treatment was to help me quit smoking.

If that had been all that he did, I would have already been satisfied.

Needless to say, I was pretty blown away when the homeopathic remedy and neuroemotional releases not only helped me quit smoking (going on 1 year now) but also made my stools better (less painful, blood and frequent).

The Bowen therapy also seemed to make made me less depressed in winter, and helped straighten the curvature in my spine.

I also get hardly any pain during my flow now, and the flow isn't as crazy heavy as it was.

A.P., Victoria (Saanich), BC

It's like a miracle! All my muscle pain adn spasms have disappeared since your treatment, and I don't constantly feel tired or worn down anymore either.

L.S., New Westminster, BC

The homeopathic remedy helped make his seizures much gentler and more infrequent.

The muscle tension and weakness have also got quite a bit better with Andy's Bowen therapy treatments.

Jacob, Squamish (Garibaldi Highlands), BC

My vision has gotten over 50% better in just a few weeks with the homeopathy, bowen therapy, and neuroemotional technique releases.

I feel great - less stressed, and sleeping well.

Grant D, West Vancouver (Ambleside), BC

I want to take the time to say how much I appreciate your excellent work in improving my health.

There was something unsettled in my gastrointestinal system that my family doctor wasn't able to fix and I was suffering daily.

In less then 6 months of being in your care I was feeling better than ever.

Not only were my specific problems taken care of but I've also noticed that my overall physical and mental health are greatly improved.

I recommend your services to any of my friends, family or co-workers who have health complaints.

Colin Aspinall, Port Coquitlam, BC

I'd had ingrown toenails and fingernails for my whole life, but they were getting worse, and it was getting to be a major problem.

They'd get infected, and I'd need to keep getting antibiotics to clear them up.

It was painful and was kind of disgusting and pissed me off.

Your homeopathic therapy and the bowen releases made my nails seem less fragile and breakable.

Over the next couple of weeks, I noticed that the infections hadn't happened so much and weren't so bad.

I appreciated that I didn't have to stop running or playing tennis.

When you asked me about my jaw after the 2nd or 3rd treatment, I realized that I hadn't been grinding or having any jaw pain for weeks.

D.S., Port Coquitlam, BC

Thank goodness for the bowen therapy!

I was worried I'd lose my leg because it was swollen and numb and sometimes painful to the touch.

All that changed after the bowen therapy.

The homeopathic remedy, and maybe the mental-emotional work, seemed to help too.

Actually, they must've helped, since I had a lot of other things get better too.

Like, I was concerned about my weight before, but I've lost 12 pounds in the past 4 months.

Even though that's not that much, I think I must've more muscle mass now, since people often comment on how much different I look.

Jen L., Burnaby (South Burnaby), BC

Andy used homeopathy and bowen technique to treat the itching, burning pimples I used to have around my mouth.

My skin was already feeling better after the treatment, and my face cleared up after a couple of weeks.

I've had the occasional pimple since then, but the homeopathy treatment always seems to make my skin clear up really quickly.

Adam B, Surrey (White Rock / South Surrey), BC

I visited Dr. Andy for depression and after a thorough interview and muscle resistence testing I was prescribed a remedy and given a Bowen treatment.

I was literally a new person the morning after the treatment and felt ready to tackle the world again.

Dr. Andy is sympathetic and intuitive as well as knowledgeable.

His intense desire to help his patients and deep compassion brought about these quality results.

I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Andy to my friends and family.

Pam Johnson, Vancouver (Kerrisdale), B.C.
